Idaho’s Treasure Valley

Boise and the area west along I-84 – including Meridian, Nampa, and Caldwell all the way to eastern Oregon, makes up the Treasure Valley. It is Idaho’s most populated area, and the 77th most populous metropolitan statistical area in the United States. Before 1959, the valley was known as the Lower Snake River Valley or the Boise River Valley, as it is where the Boise, Burnt, Malheur, Owyhee, Payette, and Weiser rivers drain into the Snake River.
